At SUREWiSE, we think it’s a great idea for you to meet our team.
SUREWiSE is made up of a large team of insurance professionals who all work together to protect our client’s and their assets. Throughout your interactions with our organisation, you probably won’t get to meet everyone so this is just one way we can introduce our team to you.
In this article, let’s get to know Scott Philp.
Born in Adelaide, South Australia, Scott is married to Ally and comes from a big family with 4 brothers, 5 nephews, 2 nieces, 3 great nephews and 1 great niece. He also has 2 pet dogs – “Pretzel” (pug crossed with Jack Russell) and “Digby” (dachshund crossed with border terrier).
As a Domestic Account Executive, Scott currently manages a portfolio of clients in the SUREWiSE Domestic Team. He provides valuable advice to his clients who are looking for insurance policies to protect their personal assets such as their home, contents, investment property, strata or community title, motor vehicle, caravan, trailer, and pleasure craft among many other products.
Prior to joining SUREWiSE in early 2018, Scott was an Underwriter for an insurance agency specialising in motor vehicle and home and contents insurance products. He also has experience working as a Case Manager for a workers’ compensation insurance provider and has also been able to bring his experience as a previous Team Leader for a components supplier and his client relationship management skills as a Recruitment Consultant to SUREWiSE.
What does Scott like about working in the insurance industry? He likes finding solutions for his clients by tailoring products to their individual needs because everyone is different. Scott enjoys insurance broking due to the customer relationships and because he has greater access to insurance providers and markets meaning he can find the best products available for his clients.
Scott says he enjoys working for SUREWiSE because of the opportunities on offer. He likes working with a great group of insurance professionals who work together as a team. Having access to the wider insurance market means a lot to Scott, because his clients rely on his advice and recommendations and he wants nothing but the best for them.
As an experienced gamer, Scott loves spending time in front of the screen playing a range of different games but singled out Battlefield 4 (a first person shooter game) as his favourite. And when he’s not playing games he enjoys playing the guitar which has has been playing since he was 12 years of age.
Although Scott hasn’t played any recent sports himself, he relaxes by watching the American NBA and his favourite team is the Boston Celtics. Scott also follows the Port Adelaide Football Club (but only when they’re winning!).
Scott’s favourite movie is ‘Star Wars Empire Strikes Back’ and his favourite actor is Harrison Ford. When it comes to music, he enjoys listening to anything heavy with a guitar and his favourite band is the ‘Smashing Pumpkins’. And on the other spectrum, Scott’s favourite book is ‘The Stand’ by Stephen King and you guessed it – his favourite author is Stephen King!
So what makes Scott tick? Scott understands the importance of having the right work/life balance so he can relax and be fully charged. It allows him to work hard so he can enjoy the things he wants to do in life.
With regards to travelling, Scott has been to New Zealand (visited Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Gibson, Waikato, Mount Maunganui and Rotorua). He has also traveled the South Pacific on a cruise (visited Noumea, Mystery Island, Isle of Pines and Port Vila) and will be travelling to Hawaii in May this year! Whilst back at home, Scott has visited the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney and Tasmania.
If he has the opportunity for a month-long holiday anywhere in the world, Scott says he would love the travel to the USA and visit Maine because that’s where Stephen King’s work was set and because of its cultural influences. He would also take the opportunity to visit New York City because that’s where everything happens!
