SUREWiSE is made up of a large team of insurance professionals who all work together to protect our client’s and their assets. Throughout your interactions with our organisation, you probably won’t get to meet everyone so this is just one way we can introduce our team to you.
In this article, let’s get to know Costa Coumbaros.
Costa is an Account Executive, managing a growing portfolio of business and commercial clients in SUREWiSE’s Business Unit. Working closely with his clients, Costa reviews his client’s risk exposures, provides recommendations and presents insurance solutions to protect the client’s assets and financial security. Costa enjoys challenges, getting to know his clients, undertaking risk assessments and tailoring effective and affordable insurance solutions.
Over time, Costa has developed a wealth of knowledge and skills which he applies to his every day life at SUREWiSE. Originally employed in the banking industry, Costa shares SUREWiSE’s customer service philosophy. Claims and technical skills were developed early on in Costa’s professional career, originally from his time at SGIC and CGU where he was involved in daily claims management. His skills were then utilised by an insurance brokerage to manage their client’s claims as Claims Manager.
Prior to joining SUREWiSE in June 2017, Costa also gained valuable exposure and experience with builder’s warranty insurance, claims management, personal & commercial insurance broking and client relationship management with another insurance brokerage. Costa also holds a Diploma of Insurance Broking.
Born in South Africa, Costa moved to Australia in January 1996 with his parents, brother and sister. His father is an electrician and moved the family to Australia for a better life and for work due to Australia’s shortage of electricians at the time. Costa’s mum is a teacher, teaching languages to children in reception to year five.
In 2010, Costa married Danielle and together have a son, Noah, aged 3. We also pleased to announce another baby is on its way! A new family home was built in 2014 for the growing family.
Costa’s hobbies include; property development; swimming; fishing; the beach; and playing soccer. He also previously played soccer for the Imbros Soccer Club and the Cobras Soccer Club. I think it’s pretty clear that his favourite sport is soccer!
Costa also has the travel bug. He has travelled to Phuket, Bali, London, Paris, Italy, Greece (and the Greek Islands) and has also been on a cruise to the South Pacific Islands. The Amalfi Coast in Italy is Costa’s favourite place he has travelled to due to its picturesque views, the local lifestyle, the amazing food and the people in the region. This is followed closely by the Greek Islands where he has visited Leros, Kos, Patmos and Kalymnos. In the near future, Costa would love to get to Africa for a safari.
Those who know Costa know he cooks a great barbecue. That’s why Costa cooks for the SUREWiSE team when we have our team barbecues. But did you also know that Costa is obsessed with olives and has even been to the Sticky Rice Cooking School and learned some very useful Asian cooking skills? Costa tells us that he has perfected the best pasta sauce but he won’t give us his recipe! His favourite meat is a t-bone steak and he cant decide between chocolate ice-cream and tiramisu as his favourite dessert.
When asked, “Who would you want to be if you had the chance?”, Costa replied, “Richard Brandson – because he is a great leader, a great entrepreneur, thinks outside of the square, is successful yet humble”.
What makes Costa happy? Spending time with his family, spending time at the beach and seeing friends and family doing well in their lives.
If he could be anywhere in the world for a month-long holiday, Costa would head straight to Positano, a village and commune on the Amalfi Coast in Italy.
Costa has always thought about skydiving but hasn’t yet built up the courage to jump out of a plane. But he says it is on the bucket list.
